Last year, Rick Largent was awarded the first prize achievements LillyforLife ever. He lived with Largent type 1 or diabetes insulin-dependent for 25 years. He has faced extraordinary challenges during his life outside of diabetes. Has left an unfortunate accident and paralyzed, and lost in the later a 19-year-old daughter to cancer.

Largent neglected to control blood sugar, and put himself at risk for diabetes complications. Was not until he began using an insulin pump, which began from the control of their health again.

Largent began traveling across the country sharing his story and teach others that anything is possible when it is well-managed diabetes. He also visited Capitol Hill in an effort to educate policy makers on the double dilemma of diabetes and disorders.
